Introduction: “Sindoor”  meaning — a simple red mark worn by married Hindu women — took on a far more somber meaning in May 2025. A deadly terror strike claimed the lives of 27 innocent civilians, including 25 Hindu pilgrims visiting from across the country. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front — a known Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy — shook the nation and triggered widespread outrage.

Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Back Just two weeks later, in the early hours of May 7, 2025, the Indian Armed Forces launched a swift and high-precision counterattack codenamed Operation Sindoor.

The operation targeted nine high-value terror-linked sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) — including areas like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli. These were believed to house infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, the groups India holds responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.

Using advanced Rafale fighter jets equipped with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs, the mission lasted just 23 minutes — but the message was loud and clear: India would not sit back while its people were killed.

No Targeting of Pakistani Military Indian officials were quick to clarify: the mission avoided any Pakistani military installations. This was not a strike against the Pakistani state, they said — it was a targeted hit on terrorism. Whether that distinction will ease tensions remains to be seen.
